Quartz Floor Coatings in Orange County

Some floors take more abuse than others. Garages see hot tires and dropped tools, pool decks stay wet, and commercial kitchens and restrooms need a floor that holds up and feels safe underfoot. A quartz floor coating is built for exactly that kind of space. Cozy Coatings installs quartz floor systems in garages, on patios and pool decks, and in commercial spaces across Orange County, and every project starts with a free estimate.

What Is a Quartz Floor Coating?

A quartz floor coating is a broadcast system. After the concrete is prepared, a resin base coat goes down, colored quartz aggregate is broadcast into it, and a clear top coat seals everything in. The result is a textured, slip-resistant floor that is very durable.

Think of it as a cousin of the flake floor. Both are multi-layer systems with a decorative layer and a protective top coat. The difference is what gets broadcast into the base coat. Instead of color flakes, a quartz system uses fine colored quartz aggregate, which gives the floor a fine, sandy texture and a tough, even finish.

Textured and Slip-Resistant

The quartz aggregate gives the surface a texture you can feel underfoot. That texture adds grip, which is why quartz is a popular choice for areas that get wet or see a lot of foot traffic, like pool decks, patios, commercial kitchens and restrooms. In a garage, it means a floor that feels more sure-footed than a smooth, glossy finish.

Built to Take a Beating

A quartz system is one of the toughest floors we install. The quartz aggregate is locked between the resin base coat and the clear top coat, so the finished floor stands up to daily traffic, rolling carts, vehicles and the wear and tear of a busy workspace.

Like every coating we install, a quartz floor is only as good as the prep underneath it. We grind the concrete and repair cracks before the system goes down so it bonds properly.

Quartz vs. Flake and Other Floors

Quartz and flake floors are built in a similar way, but they look and feel a little different.

A quartz floor

A quartz floor uses fine colored quartz aggregate broadcast into the base coat. It has a fine, textured finish, strong slip resistance and is very tough. It is a great fit for garages, pool decks and commercial spaces where grip and durability come first.

A flake floor

A flake floor uses decorative color flakes instead of quartz. It has a speckled, multi-color look, good grip from the flake texture and hides everyday dust well. It is one of the most popular choices for Orange County garages.

Smooth finishes like solid color epoxy, metallic epoxy and polished concrete can be slick when wet. For a side-by-side look, see our guide to epoxy vs. flake vs. polished concrete.
